If you fancy a look at how Bewdley and the river looked in the early eighties, this one is worth a watch. In 1981 the BBC sent Derek Jones out for a day along the River Severn, and the film follows him from Bewdley north to Bridgnorth by steam train on the Severn Valley Railway.
It is a gentle bit of archive: the town, the river and the railway as they were over forty years ago, on the same line that still runs through Bewdley station today. One for a cup of tea and a sit down.
The film is from the BBC Archive, and you can also watch it on YouTube. If it leaves you wanting more, there is plenty in our brief history of Bewdley.
