Bewdley’s Dementia Awareness Day is back on Sunday 16 August, and everyone is welcome. It is a free family day in and around Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens, now in its second year, and there is no need to book. You can simply turn up and join in.
Run by the Bewdley Dementia Support Group, the day is about the town coming together to raise awareness of dementia and to support the people living with it, along with their families and carers. It is warm, relaxed and welcoming, with something for every age, whether you want to take part in the activities or just enjoy a friendly afternoon by the river.
What is on
Chess and games for all ages run with the Bewdley Chess Club from 11am until 3pm, and everyone from curious first-timers to seasoned players is welcome to pull up a chair.
Over in Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens there are information stalls, a raffle, therapy dogs, face painting and a roaming magician, and the Garden Kitchen café will have the barbecue going with food to buy. Between 1.30pm and 3.30pm there is free live music from The Severn Wonderers, who play well-loved songs from across the decades.
Businesses across town are getting behind the day as well, among them the Rowing Club, the Tennis Club, the Brewery and the Cricket Club, so it is worth picking up a map and making the most of the welcome around Bewdley.

The Dementia Awareness Day is free and open to all, with no booking needed. Whether you fancy a game of chess, the music in the gardens or simply a relaxed afternoon out, you will find a friendly welcome.
