Bewdley Carnival celebrates its 100th year on Saturday 27 June, starting at noon. The first carnival ran in 1926 as a land and river parade, and the centenary brings a full day of floats, live performances, entertainment and family activities across the town.
Entry is free. There is a centenary raffle with a Safari Lodge stay at West Midlands Safari Park as the prize, with tickets available online or in cash at the Carnival Tent, and entries close at 4.45pm. This year’s carnival is sponsored by West Midlands Safari Park, Wyre Forest District Council and Light Ideas Ltd.
The parade brings road closures. Trimpley Lane closes between Habberley Road and Meadow Rise from 10.30am to noon, with Wribbenhall residents leaving via Queensway during that time. From noon, rolling closures run along the route, taking in Habberley Road, Kidderminster Road, Beales Corner, Bewdley Bridge, Load Street, High Street and Dog Lane.
