Bewdley Museum and Resident Businesses Remain Open During Frontage Renovations

Posted 9th Mar 2026

Visitors to Bewdley Museum may notice that the historic frontage on Load Street is currently undergoing essential renovation work. While these improvements mean the main front entrance is often closed to the public, the museum itself, along with its popular café and resident businesses, remains fully operational and welcoming visitors.

To ensure you don’t miss out on the exhibitions, the Garden Kitchen, or the unique shops, simply “come round the back.” Access to the museum and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens is available via several alternative pedestrian routes. You can reach the heart of the museum by following the pathways from:

  • High Street
  • Lax Lane
  • Severnside South

All of the museum’s resident craftspeople and onsite services continue to trade as normal. If you are planning a visit and are unfamiliar with the rear access points, please refer to the interactive map below for the best alternative routes into the site.

The museum team appreciates the patience of the local community and tourists while this work is carried out to preserve one of the town’s most iconic Georgian buildings.
