Bewdley Museum is set to welcome an exciting new addition to its ever-growing family of creative businesses this June, as celebrated artist Catherine Marshall opens the doors to her brand new art gallery. Situated within the historic museum on Load Street, the gallery will offer visitors a permanent space to browse and purchase a beautiful collection of original works, making it a must-visit destination for art lovers and casual visitors alike.
Catherine Marshall is an accomplished painter whose vibrant, expressive style has earned her a devoted following. Working primarily in acrylics, she brings seascapes to life with dramatic skies and crashing waves that feel immediate and alive, capturing the raw energy of the natural world in a way that immediately draws the eye. Alongside her striking seascapes, Catherine’s “crazy animals” series has become a beloved signature, featuring characterful and often humorous animal portraits painted with the same confident, energetic brushwork that defines her style. Together, these collections offer something genuinely joyful and distinctive.
The gallery will not be a solo venture. As artist and associate artists, Catherine has brought together a group of talented creatives whose work will sit alongside her own, enriching the collection and ensuring that every visit offers something fresh and inspiring. This collaborative spirit reflects the broader ethos of the Made in the Museum community, the thriving collective of independent makers and creatives based within Bewdley Museum. As a new member of this group, Catherine Marshall Art Gallery joins a wonderful roster of businesses that celebrate craftsmanship, creativity, and the unique character of this remarkable building.
The gallery will be open all year round, giving both local residents and visitors to Bewdley a permanent destination to return to. Whether you are searching for a truly special piece to hang in your home, a meaningful gift for someone who appreciates original art, or simply the pleasure of spending time among beautiful paintings, the gallery promises to deliver. Artwork will be available to browse and buy across both collections, with new works expected to be added throughout the year as Catherine and her associate artists continue to create.
The grand opening takes place on Saturday 6th June 2026, in Studio D at Bewdley Museum. Guests are warmly invited to join the celebration with bubbles and browsing as the gallery officially opens its doors and showcases its newest paintings. It is the perfect opportunity to meet the artists, explore the work up close, and be among the first to discover what promises to be a wonderful new cultural gem in the heart of Bewdley. The opening is expected to take place during normal museum hours of 10am to 4pm, though we recommend checking with Catherine directly on the day for the latest timings.
Bewdley Museum itself is one of Worcestershire’s most beloved heritage attractions, housed within the historic Butchers Shambles on Load Street. It is home to the Tourist Information Centre, resident craftspeople, the sensory Jubilee Gardens, and now this exciting new gallery space. If you have not visited recently, the grand opening of Catherine Marshall Art Gallery is the perfect excuse to step through those doors and rediscover everything the museum has to offer.
