Bewdley Duck Race 2026 Draws Hundreds to the River Severn

Posted 6th Apr 2026

The annual Bewdley Duck Race returned to the River Severn this Easter Monday, bringing a vibrant splash of colour and excitement to the town. Hundreds of enthusiastic spectators lined the riverbanks and gathered across Bewdley Bridge to watch the highly anticipated event unfold under beautiful spring skies. Organised by the Kidderminster and District Lions Club, the beloved tradition once again successfully raised vital funds for local charities.

The highlight of the day took place exactly at 12:00 noon when Bewdley Mayor Councillor Nicole Harper officially started the race. With the traditional sounding of the cannon, a massive flotilla of yellow rubber ducks was launched from the bridge into the water below. Dedicated local canoeists and kayakers were on hand in the river to safely guide the ducks along the course and ensure a smooth and entertaining competition.

The lively atmosphere and strong community turnout proved once more why this event remains a firm favourite in the local calendar. Residents and visitors enjoyed a wonderful afternoon by the water while supporting a fantastic cause, making the 2026 race a resounding success for everyone involved.
