Bewdley Dementia Support Group’s annual awareness day returns to the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens on Sunday 16 August, and it is free for everyone. It is more than a day out: it is the town coming together to raise awareness of dementia and to support those affected, along with their families and carers, and the whole day is built to be relaxed and welcoming.
Things get going at 11am, when Bewdley Chess Club sets up chess and games for all ages in the museum foyer, running until 3pm. From midday the gardens fill up with information stalls, a raffle, face painting, therapy dogs and a roaming magician, while The Garden Kitchen café fires up the barbecue with food for sale.
From 1.30pm to 3.30pm there is free live music from The Severn Wonderers, who play popular music from right across the decades.
Businesses across the town are backing the day throughout, among them Bewdley Rowing Club, Bewdley Tennis Club, Bewdley Brewery and Bewdley Cricket Club. Pick up a map on the day and get involved.
The day is organised by Bewdley Dementia Support Group, registered charity number 1215741, in partnership with Wyre Forest District Council, with thanks to Bewdley Museum, Bewdley Chess Club, The Garden Kitchen, the entertainers, volunteers and local businesses who make it possible.
