St George’s Hall is a vibrant community and arts hub located right in the centre of town on Load Street. Originally built in 1901 by the owner of the neighbouring George Hotel, the building has a rich local history and even served as a drill hall during both World Wars. Today, following a major refurbishment, it stands as a modern facility dedicated to bringing people together.
The venue is home to a 160 seat main hall which features a surround sound cinema system. The charity hosts a regular programme of events, including weekly film screenings every Thursday, alongside live music, theatre performances, and community classes. The various spaces within the building, including exhibition areas and meeting rooms, are also available for private hire by local groups and residents.
On the ground floor, you will find a welcoming community cafe staffed entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. In recognition of their outstanding contribution to the town, this volunteer group was honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The cafe provides a great environment to relax and meet friends, serving as a unique addition to the local cafes and tea rooms.
The hall is fully accessible, featuring a modern entrance foyer and a lift to all floors. All income generated from the cafe, ticket sales, and room hire goes directly back into maintaining the venue and ensuring it remains a valuable asset for the people of Bewdley.
