The Bewdley Institute is a private members club located at 21 Load Street. Established in 1877 when Edward Pease presented the building as a Literary and Scientific Institute, the property itself dates back to 1632. It originally operated as the Wheatsheaf Inn and still retains historic features like the iron rails in the entrance yard.
The venue provides a range of facilities for its members, including a dedicated bar serving a variety of drinks alongside free wireless internet. The club maintains a strong focus on sports and pastimes, featuring a dedicated snooker room with two full size tables. Members can also participate in various local leagues, with active teams for darts, table tennis, and petanque playing regularly.
The institute offers versatile spaces for community use and private hire. The Blue Room is available for meetings and conferences. Additionally, the Wheatsheaf Room operates as a separate, self contained building with its own bar, kitchen, and toilets. This larger space accommodates up to 100 people standing or 70 seated, making it a practical choice for weddings, parties, and regular club meetings.
