The Far Forest Countryside Show is back on Saturday 8 August, out at the Callow Hill showground on the edge of the Wyre Forest. It runs from 10am to 5pm, and everything is included in the ticket price, so once you are in, the whole day is yours.
The Welsh Axemen take the main arena, and there is a falconry display, live music across a good spread of genres and dance performances through the afternoon. Weather permitting, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight does a flypast, which is worth looking up for. If you like a bit of chrome there are classic cars, motorbikes and tractors, and for hands-on fun there is circus skills and soft axe throwing to try, plus a mini zoo and ferrets that tend to keep the children busy.
It is a proper traditional show around all that, with a horticultural show, a fun dog show, food and craft marquees, the WI tent, an art exhibition of local work, a Kids Zone and a funfair. Cream teas are served in the pavilion if you need a sit down.
Parking is sorted with a free park and ride: leave the car opposite the entrance to the Wyre Forest and hop on a vintage bus to the ground, which beats queuing for a field. Tickets are on sale now at farforestshow.co.uk/tickets.
Full details and timings are on the event listing. It is a good day out and an easy one from Bewdley. Worth the trip.
