Teddy Grays, a beloved name in the Black Country and Worcestershire, is celebrating a remarkable milestone in 2026. Founded in 1826 by John Gray, the family business has been producing traditional hard boiled sweets for exactly two centuries.
The company continues to use traditional methods to create their famous products. Their iconic Herbal Tablets remain a closely guarded family recipe, crafted in authentic copper pots. Other timeless favourites produced by the factory include pear drops, rhubarb and custard, and rich toffees.
Currently run by the fifth generation of the family, Julie Healy and John Gray, the business continues to thrive despite modern economic pressures. The bicentenary recently gained national attention when the local MP highlighted their 200 year legacy in Parliament, advocating for support for historic manufacturers facing rising energy costs.
While the main factory and production take place in Dudley, visitors to our town can experience the magic firsthand at their dedicated shop. You can find more details about their local presence by visiting the Teddy Grays Bewdley directory listing.
