Dr. Gareth Williams: Fool’s Gold

Dr Gareth Williams on the Herefordshire Viking Hoard, as heard in the BBC podcast Fool's Gold. Part of the Bewdley Festival, Friday 16 October.

Dr Gareth Williams, a leading expert on the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, tells the story of the Herefordshire Viking Hoard: gold and silver dug up near Leominster in 2015, then illegally sold on the black market before police and heritage experts recovered some of it and jailed the finders. As heard in the BBC podcast Fool’s Gold, it is a tale that literally rewrote a piece of England’s history.

Tickets are on the Bewdley Festival site. Festival talks are usually held at St George’s Hall, so do check the venue when you book.
