The Riverside Market is back on Severn Side North. After several years away, Bewdley Town Council brought it back in May 2026, and it now runs on the first and third Sunday of each month from May through to September, 9am to 3pm, along the quay beside the River Severn.
Bewdley has been a market town for centuries, and for years the markets ran along the river and up Load Street before they stopped in 2020. The return opened on Sunday 3 May, when the Mayor of Bewdley, Councillor Nicole Harper, welcomed traders and visitors back to the quay and the Got to Sing choir sang the first market in. The council has run the relaunch with Midland Markets and Marshals Limited, supported by Wyre Forest District Council.
The setting does a lot of the work. Severn Side North runs along the water with Telford’s bridge at one end and the Georgian fronts of the town behind, so the stalls sit between the river and the high street rather than in a car park or a hall. On a clear Sunday it is one of the better places in town to stand with a coffee.
Stalls line the riverside with local produce, crafts, antiques, food and gifts, and the café terraces above the quay stay open alongside. Traders change through the season, with regulars including Queso Fine Cheese. It is a morning that reads better walked than described.
You will find the market on Severn Side North, the riverside street by Telford’s bridge. It sits a short walk from Load Street and the town centre, and the town’s car parks are a few minutes away on foot. If you fancy arriving a different way, the Severn Valley Railway runs into Bewdley across the river, and the walk over the bridge brings you out close to the stalls.
It is easy to make a morning of it. The riverside walk runs right past the stalls, the shops and cafés on and around Load Street are a couple of minutes away, and Bewdley Museum and the Severn Valley Railway are both within easy reach if you want to turn the market into a full day out.
The next market is Sunday 21 June. After that, the 2026 markets fall on Sunday 5 July, Sunday 19 July, Sunday 2 August, Sunday 16 August, Sunday 6 September and Sunday 20 September, each one 9am to 3pm on Severn Side North.
A market only works when people turn up, and Bewdley’s clearly has. If you are in town on a Market Sunday, head down to the river. It is worth the trip.
