Bewdley Festival favourite Lesley Smith returns, this time in character as Emma Hamilton, one of the most remarkable women in English history. Born into poverty in the north-west, Emma reinvented herself in London society, was painted many times by George Romney, married the British Ambassador Sir William Hamilton, and fell famously and scandalously in love with Admiral Nelson. Lesley tells the story of her dramatic rise, and her decline after Nelson’s death.
Tickets are on the Bewdley Festival site. Festival talks are usually held at St George’s Hall, so do check the venue when you book.
